Floor graphics are printed vinyl stickers laid on the floor and covered with a textured anti-slip laminate, so people can walk on them safely. Pune shops, hospitals, offices and event venues use them to guide people, mark queues and catch the eye where nobody expects a message. 3 Red Media prints and laminates floor graphics at Chandni Chowk in any shape you need.
What floor graphics are good at
People look down more than you think, especially when they are walking through an unfamiliar building or waiting in line. A floor graphic does a job no wall poster can:
| Job | Example | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Show the way | Arrows and coloured lines to OPD, lab, billing | Hospitals, clinics, offices |
| Manage a queue | “Stand here” circles, numbered spots | Pharmacies, banks, ticket counters, canteens |
| Promote a product | Brand logo or offer in front of a shelf | Supermarkets, showrooms, malls |
| Mark a zone | Stall boundaries, stage marks, safety zones | Exhibitions, factories, warehouses |
| Decorate an event | Monogram on a dance floor, welcome mat graphic | Weddings, launches, parties |
The anti-slip laminate is not optional
Vinyl on its own is smooth and can be slippery underfoot, especially if the floor is mopped. Every floor graphic should be covered with an anti-slip laminate: a clear film with a fine texture that gives shoes grip and protects the print from scuffing. It is the single most important part of a floor sticker, and the reason ordinary wall vinyl should never be stuck on a floor.
If someone offers to put a regular glossy sticker on a floor, say no. Use a floor graphic with a textured anti-slip laminate.
Which floors work
- Vitrified tiles, ceramic tiles, polished stone: very good, as long as they are clean and dry.
- Sealed wooden or laminate flooring: good. Test removal in a corner first.
- Epoxy factory floors: usually good; heavy forklift traffic wears graphics faster.
- Carpet, rough concrete, outdoor paving: not suitable for standard floor vinyl. Other solutions are needed here.
- Wet areas such as washrooms and pool sides: avoid.
Shapes and sizes
Floor graphics can be cut to almost any outline. Simple shapes last longer because there are fewer corners to catch a shoe or a trolley wheel.
| Graphic | Typical size |
|---|---|
| Queue circle or footprint pair | 12 to 18 inches across |
| Direction arrow | 1 to 2 ft long |
| Brand logo in front of a shelf | 2 to 3 ft |
| Floor strip or wayfinding line | 3 to 4 inches wide, any length |
| Dance floor monogram or entrance graphic | 4 to 8 ft |
Rounded corners are better than sharp ones. A square sticker with 90-degree corners starts to lift at the corners first, then catches on shoes and tears.
Where floor graphics are used in Pune
Hospitals and diagnostic centres use coloured lines and arrows so patients can find departments without asking at every turn; see hospital signage. Exhibition stalls use a floor graphic to mark their space and carry the brand under visitors’ feet; see exhibition stall printing. Retail stores put logos and offers in front of shelves and at the entrance. At weddings and parties, a monogram on the dance floor becomes part of the photos; see event printing.
Designing for the floor
A floor graphic is seen from above and at an angle, usually by someone walking. Short words in big, bold letters read best: “Pharmacy this way”, “Wait here”, “Lab”. Colour coding works well in big buildings, for example a blue line to radiology and a green line to the pharmacy, because people follow a colour without reading. Put the most important word on the side facing the direction people approach from, so they read it the right way up.
Keep logos simple and avoid thin strokes, which wear first under shoes. If the graphic sits on a patterned or dark floor, give it a solid background or a white outline so it stands out.
Laying a floor graphic
- Clean the floor and let it dry completely. Any wax, polish or mopping residue weakens the bond.
- Mark the position with tape before peeling the backing.
- Peel a strip of backing, line it up and smooth outwards with firm pressure.
- Press the edges well. Edges are where foot traffic attacks first.
- Keep cleaning machines and wet mops off the graphic for the first day.
How long floor stickers last
Floor graphics are made for indoor, short to medium-term use. Life depends almost entirely on how many people walk over them, whether trolleys roll across them and how the floor is cleaned. A graphic in a quiet office corridor will last much longer than one at a busy supermarket entrance. Check edges regularly and replace any that start to lift so nobody trips.
Removal
Floor graphics peel up when you are done. On tiles and stone, any leftover glue cleans off with a suitable cleaner. On wooden floors, peel slowly and at a low angle to protect the finish. For exhibitions and events, plan removal time into the dismantling schedule.
Placing an order
Send the shapes and sizes, the number of pieces, the floor type and your artwork on WhatsApp. A rate and proof come back, and production starts on your go-ahead. Timing depends on quantity and the queue and is confirmed by message. Collect from Chandni Chowk or ask for delivery in Pune and PCMC; laying can be arranged. Prefer a form? Get a quote.
